Deerskin Leather

All hides are individually photographed. What you see is exactly what you'll receive unless otherwise stated.

Deerskin Leather

Deerskin leather is known for its softness, flexibility and durability. It is easy to work with and available in a wide range of colors, sizes, weights and finishes, making it a versatile leather for clothing, bags, regalia and a wide variety of leathercraft projects.

Full Grain Deerskin Leather

Full grain deerskin has a smooth surface with the distinctive pebble grain associated with deer leather. Depending on the weight and temper, it can work well for moccasins, gloves, garments, bags and pouches and other projects where a soft, flexible leather is preferred.

Deerskin Suede Leather

Deerskin suede has a soft suede surface rather than the grain surface found on full grain hides. It is a popular choice for traditional buckskin clothing, laces, fringe, pouches and other leather crafts. We carry deer suede in earth tones as well as designer colors, with different sizes and weights available depending on current inventory.

Choosing the Right Deerskin Leather

The best hide for your project depends on the finish, weight, temper and amount of structure or drape you need. Lighter, softer hides are generally better for projects requiring flexibility and movement, while heavier hides provide more body and durability.

Our Leather Weight & Thickness Guide explains how leather weight is measured and can help you determine the right thickness for your project.

Not sure whether full grain or suede will work best, or which weight you need? Contact Us and tell us what you're making. We'll be happy to help you choose the right deerskin leather.
